UV filters are special photographic filters that block ultraviolet light. Camera lenses are corrected only for a certain part of the visible light spectrum, and a high amount of UV light can cause blurriness due to chromatic aberration. When sunlight is scattered by air molecules, the peak intensity of the scattered light lies in the UV range and can cause a bluish tint. Using UV blocking filters effectively suppresses these effects – photos gain contrast and sharpness, and color errors are avoided. No exposure correction is required when using UV filters.
