The Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens features an impressive 50% reduction in weight and 16% reduction in length when compared to the F-Mount 800mm from Nikon. This is made possible by the use of a Phase Fresnel element. Furthermore, the Phase Fresnel Element assist in compensating for chromatic aberrations as well as colour fringing.

S-Line Optics

This lens features a series of ED (extra-low dispersion) elements as well as an SR (short-wavelength refractive) glass element. This combination virtually eliminates all chromatic aberrations, colour fringing, as well as chromatic aberrations. The Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens also features a programmable Control Ring that can be used to control aperture, ISO, or exposure compensation. A Kensington lock support is featured for securing the lens in place in remote shooting sessions.
This lens is compatible with optional Nikon Z-Teleconverters TC-1.4x as well as TC-2x designed to extend the reach of the lens. It furthermore used drop-in 46mm filters via the included filter holder.
