The high-grade, multi-layer HD Coating has been applied to the optical elements for high-contrast images with edge-to-edge sharpness and free of flare and ghost images. The exterior has been totally redesigned to match the design of the latest PENTAX K-mount digital SLR models, and also to make its lens hood removable. When mounted on a PENTAX K-1 or PENTAX K-1 Mark II camera body, the photographer can remove the lens hood to produce nearly circular fish-eye images.

HD & SP Coating

By applying the latest HO Coating and redesigning coating totally for this product, flare and ghost ca used by mutual reflection of lens surfaces are effectively minimized. Although this lens has wide angle of view, it barely gets affected by strong light source such as sun, and is reborn as a lens with clear depiction. SP Coating is applied to the front surface of the first lens element, it not only protects the lens from dust, water and grease, but also makes it easier to wipe these substances off the lens surface. It is also highly resistant to abrasion and scratch, helping to keep the lens in prime condition.

Inner focusing

Conventional interchangeable lenses employ an all•group shifting system, in which all elements of the optics shift during focusing. The JF system, however, shifts only part of the optics during focusing. Since this can reduce the lens's overall weight -which the motor has to drive during autofocus operation - it not only assures faster AF speed, but also shortens the minimum focusing distance to improve imaging performance in close-up photography. It also eliminates the change in the lens length , maintaining the ideal weight balance regardless of subject or shooting distance- a great advantage, especially with super•telephoto lenses.

Quick Shift Focus & ED Glass

Effortlessly change the focus mode from autofocus to manual simply by turning the focus ring during AF operation, instantly switching to manual-focus mode to allow for extra-fine focus adjustment - extremely useful in close-up photography. Extra-low dispersion ED lens elements, normal glass lenses tend to divide the incident light into its various color components, as a prism would do. This happens particularly at the edges. adding unwanted color fringing to the photo. ED glass is an exceptionally high quality special glass that prevents this chromatic aberration to a very great extent

Lightweight and New Design

The exterior is also redesigned according to the latest PENTAX lens series. Fixed hood was changed to demountable bayonet type, and it was completed as a product which can widen pleasures of K·l series user. When attaching to 35mm full-frame DSLR camera, it can shoot fish-eye images which is nearly a round shape at wide end, and also shoot diagonal fish-eye images at tele end without vignetting. The tens is exclusively designed for PENTAX APS-C format, resulting in a compact and lightweight design fish-eye lens of a mere 323g. The excellent portability makes it easy to carry.
